Sam’s KIDS builds on the legacy of the Delaware KIDS Fund, originally established in 2009 by Harvey, Hanna & Associates to support children in need across Delaware. Today, the fund has been reestablished as Sam’s KIDS (Kids In Distressed Situations) in honor of Samuel J. Hanna, whose life and spirit continue to inspire its mission.
Sam’s KIDS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children facing difficult circumstances by providing essential resources, educational support, and access to counseling and mentorship. The organization also expands its impact through meaningful connections with animals and nature, including experiences at Sam’s Ranch.
Sam’s Ranch is an amazing partnership between Sam’s KIDS and Delaware Nature Society (DelNature), providing a unique opportunity with nature, where guests can visit Coverdale Farm Preserve to get an up-close animal experience.
DelNature is proud to host 4 Dwarf Nigerian goats as an animal experience and opportunity to connect with nature. Among the pastures and produce fields at Coverdale Farm Preserve, the goats sit happily in the middle of the farm, ready for scratches and attention from guests.
From outside the fence, guests can visit the goats any time the farm is open to the public.

Staff from Sam’s KIDS are also offering a special ‘Meet the Sam’s KIDS Goats’ program, offering an educational dive into the impact of the Sam’s KIDS goats. These dates are:

Hi, my name is Star! I was born on March 4, 2022. I am a female Nigerian Dwarf goat, otherwise known as a “doe”, who gave birth to Angel and Lil’ Wayne. I love affection, especially behind my ears. I am gentle and love being with children. I am always willing to make a new friend.
Angel
Hi, my name is Angel! I was born on May 27, 2023. I am a female Nigerian Dwarf goat. I am smaller than my twin brother, Lil’ Wayne. I enjoy playing with my family and love people as well. I like to stand up on two legs to rear and head butt my pasture mates. This is how I play. I am small, but mighty!
Lil’ Wayne
Hi, my name is Lil’ Wayne! I was born on May 27, 2023 just like my twin sister Angel. I am the only male goat of the herd. I am known as a “wether”. I love to play! I am very curious and will lower my head and nudge you to get attention. I love to head butt as a sign of my affection and playfulness. I adore the attention you give me.

Hi, my name is Ash! I was born on May 5, 2023. I am a female Dwarf Nigerian goat.
Star is my half-sister! We have the same mom but different fathers. That means I am
Angel and Lil’ Wayne’s aunt! I am quieter than the other goats in our herd and
sometimes like to be alone. Although I am shy, I enjoy your company and hope we can
be friends .
